Robert Kyle , Saxophone - Versitile Instrumentalist Extraordinaire! Robert
Kyle has been playing music for most of his life,
everything from playing on street corners to touring worldwide
as a member, and later musical director of blues
diva Linda Hopkins' "Black and Blue Quartet."
He has performed and/or recorded with some of the top names
in the music business including Linda Rondstadt, Carole
King, Michael Bolton, Kenny Loggins, Brenda Russel, Della
Reese, Lou Rawls, and many others. He is a featured soloist
on numerous albums, T.V. shows and films. Robert has released
four albums on his own Dark Delishious Music record label,
and one on Upside Out records. He will be in the studio
in the summer of 2002 to record his latest project. A straight-ahead
jazz quintet record featuring all new and original material.
He performs regularly at L.A. area clubs and festivals including
the Playboy Jazz Festival, the 94.7 FM Wave Concert Series,
Jazz On The Green Festival, The Whittier Uptown Festival,
The Baked Potato, Steamers, Kikuya, Jax, Spaghettini, The
Hollywood Park Casino and numerous others. In addition to his teachers, Robert names his saxophone influences as Stan Getz, "Lockjaw" Davis, Zoot Sims, Lester Young, Maceo Parker, Charlie Parker, Lucky Thompson, Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster, and John Coltrane. "Some of my biggest influences," he adds, "have been the singers I've worked with, especially Linda Hopkins. She can do more with one note, than most singers can do with a bucketful. As for writers, I love Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Ravel, Debussy, Stravinsky, Vaughn-Williams, Duke Ellington and Antonio Carlos Jobim."

Robert Kyle has a variety of groups he has put together just for the right occasion. Choose from Latin/Brazilian, Jazz, Solo Sax, or Classical. Robert can do it all! Latin/Brazilian Group:
The Robert Kyle Latin/Brazilian project-A dynamic five piece ensemble that features a fiery mix of the rhythms of Brazil, Cuba and Africa. Cool tropical melodies float over hot, hypnotic and pulsating rhythms. Along with Robert, the band features keyboards, bass, drums and percussion. Straight Ahead Jazz Group: The Robert Kyle straight-ahead project. A jazz quintet (or quartet) in the tradition of Miles Davis’ groups of the late fifties to mid-sixties. Straight-ahead and swinging jazz and blues. Joining Robert are keyboards, bass and drums, and if quintet, a Trumpeter. Braziliando:

plays an enchanting mix of Samba, Bossa Nova & Brazilian
Jazz. Featuring the beautiful guitar playing and soulful vocals
of Kleber Jorge, a native of Rio De Janeiro, singing in both
Portuguese and English. Also from Brazil, percussionist Cassio
Duarte adds the raw rhythmic energy and hypnotic pulse, playing
a wide variety of Brazilian & African drums and percussion
instruments. The lyrical and passionate saxophone and flute
playing of Robert Kyle round out this trio. The members of
“Braziliando” have been performing together for

Riner Scivally and Saxophonist/Flutist/Percussionist Robert
Kyle have been playing together for over 14 years. Their repertoire
includes music from the Jazz & popular American songbook
of the 1930’s through present day, and includes the
music of Duke Ellington, Thelonius Monk, George Gershwin,
Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern as well as contemporary
composers and artists such as Stevie Wonder, Sting, Santana
and many others. They also play music in the Latin/Brazilian
genres from composers Antonio Carlos Jobim and Luis Bonfa
and others. Besides playing Jazz, popular, Latin & Brazilian
music, they can also cover much of the standard literature
for classical flute and acoustic guitar when the occasion
calls for it. Solo Sax:
Imagine a lonesome tenor sax weaving gorgeous jazz melodies that float upon the open air. Picture a saxophone on the street corner 'Round about midnight. Solo saxophone creates a mood that evokes romance, solitude and mystery. Class Sax - Sax Quartet:
The “Class Sax” Saxophone Quartet is modeled after the traditional String Quartet. Their repertoire includes transcriptions of works by Bach, Beethoven and Mozart as well as Twentieth Century composers Pierre Max Dubois, George Gershwin, Astor Piazzola and many others. They also perform many of their own transcriptions, original music and music written specifically for Saxophone Quartet. Their sound is very rich in color and timbre and has been described as somewhere between a string Quartet and the human voice. The
